The world has become too complicated. Technology has globalized the landscape of human beliefs, and this has served both to educate and to confuse us. We now have more knowledge to digest, more concepts to grasp, more incompatible worldviews to evaluate in order to decide if we believe and want to follow any of them. It is now easy to feel lost in our quest for meaning.
Adding to the confusion, popular culture has become predominantly symbolic, and we are being exposed to a consistently high volume of metaphysical doctrines and ancient narratives that we are not aware of. Why is that so? Are there any discernible patterns that might give us a clue?
